Blue Lock – Manga Recommendation

Yes, I still read manga, I just barely talk about it… I feel like I should do more manga reviews and recommendations because manga are OG. I’ve done a couple Manga posts in the past but never a full on recommendation and that changes today! I recently read this sports Manga called Blue Lock and it was a mistake not reading it earlier. Who knew that a sports manga about soccer/football (I’m going to refer to it as Football cause I’m used to that) would be interesting! I dont watch or read much sports anime and manga, but this one was amazing!

I picked up this manga because while scrolling through Anilist, I saw alot of people were reading this, then I checked some their ratings and they were pretty high… So I’m guessing the Manga was good? Yes it was, it was amazing!

This manga is about a boy Yoichi Isagi who is invited to a mysterious training camp to discover and enhance his skills in football. The story begins with Japan’s elimination from the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which prompts the Japanese Football Union to start a program scouting high school players who will begin training in preparation for the 2022 Cup. 300 young strikers in a prison-like institution called โ€œBlue Lockโ€ and put them through rigorous training aimed at creating โ€œthe world’s greatest egotist striker. Blue lock is basically a prison, You eat, sleep and train everyday.

One thing I love about this Manga is the ‘battles.’ By battles I mean the matches, they are really amazing, Even though the characters aren’t moving, the Manga still gets me excited. In the first couple chapters, Blue lock is divided into 4 different sections, in those sections everyone is a team. The team who defeats the other teams wins and moves onto the next phase. The end goal of Blue Lock is basically last man standing. The strongest player in Blue lock will be the one to survive.

My favorite character isnt the MC, but one of the side characters named Meguru Bachira.. His looks remind me of Kenma from haikyuu but his personality is more like Hinata. Bachira’s ability is ‘Elastic Dribbling’. Everyone in Blue Lock has a special ability, which is the type of thing they are good at. One thing that I love about Bachira is his imaginary friend ‘Monster’. His monster pushes him to play football.

The main character is also really cool.. His ability is very unique too, Expert Spatial Awareness. When I heard spatial awareness the first thing I though of was Inosukes beast breathing form which is also called spatial awareness, but sadly those are 2 different things. His ability lets him analyze the whole field with his instincts, It also has smaller parts to his ability like Goal scent, Blind spots and Off the Ball movements.

The art of this manga makes the characters look godly when their abilities are peak. It just amazing, I really hope that this gets adapted one day. Thanks for reading!

It’s always amazing how anime can make literally anything from sports to pirate shows so engaging and entertaining!

Do u have any anime recommendations ? because I canโ€™t find any good anime it can be about anything

    • Dororo is a really good anime, Also Nura: Rise of the Yokai clan. The devil is a part-timer is pretty good, and it’s getting a season 2 soon… If you’re looking for more recommendations, I recommend you get an Anilist account, It keeps track of anime, and also there are a lot of people on the site who can recommend good anime… That’s where I get most of my recommendations from.

This is probably uncommon, but I enjoy manga more than anime. The lack of color and animation leaves more for the imagination
